A tool to convert images like .GIF, PNG or JPG into multi-layered favicon.ico file to display in web browsers or use as desktop icons.
A favicon (short for "favorites icon"), also known as page icon or urlicon, is an icon associated with a particular website or webpage. Favicons are usually small square images about 16×16 pixels in size and are used by web browsers to show a graphical representation of the site being visited at the left side of the browser’s address bar. The original means of defining a favicon was by placing a file called favicon.ico in the root directory of a webserver. This would then automatically be used in Internet Explorer's favorites (bookmarks) display. Later, however, a more flexible system was created, using (X)HTML to indicate the location of an icon for any given page.
